Grayscale upgrade

Introduction to grayscale upgrade

The grayscale upgrade function supports the smooth release of products, allowing some users to continue to use the old product while other users use the new product, gradually expanding the user range of the new product and eventually completing migration to the new product while ensuring the stability of the overall system.

Examples of grayscale upgrade scenarios

Suppose there is an old application that provides services to customers and is deployed as Application A in the AppEngine. The company is ready to release a new version that can be deployed as Application B in the AppEngine (both versions must be in the same space). Enter the Application B details page, click on grayscale upgrade in the upper left corner, select Application A and click the Complete button as shown below: Grayscale Upgrade

The grayscale upgrade will restart all instances of B. B's internal domain name and external access methods will be the same as A. You can gradually reduce the number of instances of A and increase the number of instances of B according to the business situation. Finally delete Application A and complete the grayscale upgrade.
